My biography

Meet Sarah VanBuschbach, BSW, MACP
Counsellor | Child, Youth, and Family Support Specialist

Nice to meet you! I'm Sarah VanBuschbach, and I'm passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges and discover their inner strengths. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from UBC Okanagan and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. With over 16 years of experience in the social services field, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside children, youth, adults, couples, and families in a variety of settings.

My experience includes working in daycares, as a behaviour interventionist, and as a social worker. I also completed an 8-month practicum with Child and Youth Mental Health, which deepened my commitment to supporting young people through complex emotional and behavioural challenges.

I specialize in working with children aged 3 to 18 who may be experiencing ADHD, autism spectrum challenges, anxiety, depression, behavioural issues, or the effects of family separation or divorce. I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported. I’ve even been affectionately called a “tutor for your feelings” by one of my young clients—something I consider the highest compliment.

My approach is empathetic, collaborative, and strength-based. I believe in helping people think outside the box, identify their unique strengths, and move toward meaningful change. Whether you're navigating a difficult season or seeking personal growth, I'm here to walk alongside you on your journey.

"I've been working with Sarah for the past 7 months, and I can't say enough about how much she has helped me. She's been a huge support in helping me work through personal challenges and giving me the tools I need to move forward in a healthier way.

What really stands out is how she has guided me through one of the most difficult times in my life--my child custody case. Sarah has provided steady guidance, compassion, and practical strategies that have made a real difference in how I've handled everything.

She truly listens, understands, and offers insights that I wouldn't have been able to see on my own. I'm very grateful for her support and would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a therapist who is both professional and genuinely cares about her clients."
